Sustainability

"Smart buildings will produce as much energy as they consume"

"Life expectancy will exceed one hundred years"

Mtech Consult believes that Offsite can play a significant part in delivering sustainable construction. We are focused on helping Offsite system manufacturers and the clients who specify them to promote and exploit the environmental benefits of Offsite techniques.

The growing demands on the construction industry to improve its environmental performance make it essential to integrate environmental and sustainability requirements into building design at the earliest possible stage.

Look at the facts:

  • Factory material waste is typically less than 1.5% compared with more than 10% on a traditional construction site and the recycling of waste is far more reliably controlled in a factory environment than it is on site
  • Factory operatives are some 300% more efficient than their counterparts carrying out the equivalent task on site (government research)
  • In a recent study on a modular housing project, it was revealed that there were 90% fewer vehicle deliveries than would be expected on a comparable traditional build
  • Government statistics show that the average distance a factory operative travels to work is 2 miles compared to a national average distance travelled to work of 8.5 miles

We use the most up to date energy and environmental information to develop new processes and to direct our clients to meet regulations and guidelines. From Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) and Simplified Building Energy Model (SBEM) calculations to full scale Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
